    What a treat to be back in Kauai after 30 years! The island has been discovered and is moving in many directions - but the north coast still has the magic for us.

    Our home base, Hale 'O Kuawa, was always a pleasure to return to after hard days on the beach. Each day we came home to pleasing surroundings, garden, birds, books, art, mountain views, flowers, a jungle shower .... and of course our "guard cat", Pie.

    Thanks for sharing part of your Kauai island world with us.

2) Conrad knows fishing and is a quite studly texturer and painter (and every other area of construction for that matter, but I'm qualified to say "nice paintwork")
3) If you want to visit Kalalau KAYAK IN !!!! (Just trust me on this one) DO NOT hike in AND out (unless you're one of those eco-all-stars or a Himalayan)

4) Overall rating here: 10 (scale is 1-5) VERY NICE GIG! Cats rip (shy Tabby will be your buddy in exchange for Tuna)
5) Be sure to shower once or twice in the outdoor shower. It is the KING of all showers.

    Thank you for everything: Your hospitality, the fresh flowers, the information, the cats, the tropical wishing well and the spectacular morning, noon & night views! You've both done a truly amazing job at providing a "home away from home" and have refined the act of "being there" for your guests while providing the degree of privacy sought by your guests.We will share the knowledge of this nirvana (a.k.a. I'm glad we only stayed on Kauai for 5 days - because any longer and I would've grown roots.  Kauai teased us for 4 days with hot, sunny weather but no surf!  However, on our last day the Gods didn't disappoint us: high surf advisories all around - YIPPEE! 
 
     A well deserved vacation from the Rat Race in a totally fitting location.  And your first Aussie visitors!!  Thank you Karen and Conrad for your hospitality and fresh flowers.  We'll try to hang loose till our next visit.

    After 2 weeks traveling on Oahu, the Big Island and Maui we came to the Schmidt family.  We arrived late so that we couldn't see the lovely garden, all the beautiful flowers . . . Oh what a gorgeous place to live!  Unfortunately we only have 2 days left before we have to leave for Europe.  We felt very much at home in this house - thank you so much for the peace, silence; we relaxed very well so that we can look forward to the tasks awaiting us at home, full with the sun of Hawaii and energy we got here . . . We will love to remember the days we spent here.  Thanks as well for the nice flowers . . . We enjoyed it so much.  All the best to the Schmidt family.

We were so looking forward to this trip, but really had no idea what to expect about the lodging.  Well, staying here was better than anything we imagined.  Conrad and Karen, this was so nice.  We're so happy, yet sad about leaving.  Everything was set up to make us feel relaxed, comfortable and affordable.  We couldn't have asked for anything more.  We want you to know that staying here was the highlight of our trip.  Thanks for everything - we will see you again the next time we visit.  God bless you both.

    Mahalo!  Our honeymoon week on Kauai was fantastic and even if it hadn't been our honeymoon we would have felt the same way (:   Both Dan & I have fallen in love with Kauai, and in particular, your lovely north shore.  We even enjoyed the rain!
    We really enjoyed staying here.  It felt immediately like home.  We appreciated how clean it was, how well organized, and that whatever we needed we found (having anything a person could need for a day at the beach was great!).
    One of the things we enjoyed most was your "morning visit."  Not only were the visits enjoyable, but all the information you gave us was so helpful.
    We wish you all the best and hope that if you ever visit Michigan that perhaps we'll be able to make your stay in our fair state as pleasant as you make ours here in PARADISE.
